Affordable Art Fair London 2015

I have been thinking about the transformative possibilities of painting and its ability to elevate even the humblest of everyday objects. In my latest series of paintings I have taken lowly disposable kitchen cloths - material that I use every day in my studio - and have tried to pay them the same attention as the flemish primitive school might have given to the sumptuous fabrics they painted. The results hover between abstraction and representation and have the 'aura' of something precious, something rarified.

Nicholas Bowlby Art Gallery will be presenting a selection of work from Sara Willett's new series - Everyday Sublime - at the 2015 Affordable Art Fair, London
